"We have M&M's

I have had a request for a happy story from a certain someone so here it is.
During my vacation I went up to the Cabin and spent some time with my mom and Aunt Jean. We decided to go up to Rocky Mountain National Park to look for the wildlife. We seen several Elk and a few deer but no moose because I am "Moose Repellent" (but that is another story). We pull into one of the parking areas to turn around and there are a couple of deer there eating grass and such. As we pull in the deer watch us. We roll down our windows to try and get pictures of them but they keep their heads down eating. Mom yells "We have M&M's" and one of then come running over to the car. He is looking for the M&M's. All we had was Chex Mix so we feed it to him. Here are some pictures to document the event.

Weekend of Car Wrecks

This weekend was the weekend for car wrecks big and small. There were several fatal car accidents this weekend in the metro area. One was Sunday morning which my husband and kids came upon at 6th Avenue and Kalamath. The ambulance had not yet arrived and they stopped because the truck was smoking and in his work truck he carries a fire extinguisher. He was bringing the kids to me because he had to be in Aurora @ 8 AM. I was able to show the kids the new building that I will be working in come September. After that we went to leave the parking garage and I backed into a car. I left a note on the windshield and left. He is an OrthoPod and seems very nice. I hope it all turns out well. I found out that my parents were in a perilous situation with their Jeep on TroubleSome Pass. I hope that everyone else avoided the accident aura that was around Denver this weekend. I am blaming it on "Ernesto" the Hurricane and the ions it is producing.

Happy School Dance

The kids are back in school!!! The kids are back in school!! The kids are back in school!!! They started back on Monday and it is great. They did get upset when I did the Happy First Day of School Dance but I don't care. They are at different schools as Dakotah started middle school this year. I hope they enjoy themselves.

My so-called Vacation

Last week I was on vacation. I had big plans to go up to the cabin and relax but that is not what happened. My husband had gone to Sturgis and was due to come home on Sunday. He called me on Saturday saying his bike had broke and that he had no way home. So then the plan developed that on Monday after my echocardiogram me and the kids would drive up there in the truck to pick up him and the bike. We drive like maniacs up through Wyoming and into South Dakota. We made it there by 4:30 pm in time to pick up the bike before the dealer closes. We get loaded and head off to Denny's for dinner. We no sooner get sat down and it is a downpour. We go back to the hotel and decide to go swimming. As we swim we watch it continue to rain and the roads and parking lot flood. I am thankful that we drove like maniacs and beat the weather. Tuesday we eat at the hotel and then go to BEAR COUNTRY USA and head back out for the drive home. We were taking the two lane highway and there is not a lot of towns along the way. Emily starts saying she is hungry and I consult the map and tell my husband where we should stop before we hit no mans land. We decide where to stop and then next thing I know we are driving through where we decided to stop and my husband is saying' "We can stop later I don't want to get home at midnight." We keep updating the place and then keep passing it up. I am trying to keep the peace and figure out where to stop. Several hours of "I'm hungry" from the backseat we finally stop at the Subway in Lusk Wyoming. If you have ever been to Lusk there is not many options to stop and eat. We keep heading down the road and get home. The next day I get the job of driving the bike out to Aurora to the dealer. After that the kids and I head up the hill to the cabin where my mom and aunt are. I love my aunt with all my heart but she is a bit difficult to deal with at times. Thursday we drive over Gore Pass which is absolutely beautiful. Friday back down the hill and then into mom's car for the drive to Scottsbluff to take Jean home. Fours hours up and four hours back for a total of 10 hours in a car if you include the drive down the hill. Saturday was spent getting ready for the upcoming school year because the kids start on the following Monday. Sunday was a birthday party and a few other chores. To top it all off my allergies flared up and I am still miserable with them. I had a class for work yesterday and go back to work tonight. I did not get to really relax or so anything on my house like I had planned. I am ready for a real vacation now.

Happy 9th Birthday!!!

My youngest turned 9 on Friday and we had her birthday party saturday at Pump It Up! in Broomfield. All the kids had an awesome time and so did the adults. It is a fun place to go and the kids get really tired from playing so hard. I hope my little "Princess" enjoyed her birthday.

Weekend Adventures

This past weekend we went camping at Boyd Lake in Loveland. It was the first time we had the motorhome and boat out in a year and a half, so we were like camping and boating virgins. We arrived Thursday evening and got the motorhome set up- no problems there. Friday morning we were going to go boating-so we hooked it up to the truck which we brought up with us so we didn't have to relocate our weekend home to put the boat on the water. We hooked it up to the receiver and it appeared to latch but a few feet away we found out it had not as it pulled off of the receiver and hit the back of the truck before the safety chains let go and then the wiring plug pulled apart as it was the only thing left holding the trailer to the truck. A few curse words later we hooked it up to the truck again and pulled into an empty camp site. The plug had to be rewired about an hour later we finally were ready to put the boat on the water. We wait in line back down the boat ramp get it ready to be unhooked and it won't turn over. Out of the water we go. We get up to the lot and a quick review of the engine compartment shows a battery that has literally melted. Two crying kids later we are back at the campsite. We go down to the lake and swim for awhile. Then is time for lunch and to get cleaned up. We stop by Walmart on our way to Cheyenne Frontier Days and the Trace Adkins and Montgomery Gentry concert and get a new battery. During the concert I noticed my feet were itching and burning. In the bathroom I notice that my legs and feet from my Capri pants down I am covered in bug bites. I try to enjoy the rest of the concert but continue to itch. Trace Adkins is awesome in concert whereas Montgomery Gentry's sound system left something to be desired and you could barely understand them. Saturday the boat starts without any trouble and we are finally boating. We boat and swim for awhile and have a good time. We left the boat on the water so that Sunday morning Bryce and Dakotah can go fishing in the early morning. About 8:30 am I am woke up by Bryce saying: "Wake the Fuck up Sleeping Beauty the lake dropped a couple of feet over night and it is stuck in the mud!" Up I jump throwing on my swim suit and grabbing a still sleeping Emily out of her bed. Down to the lake we head and after 45 minutes of pushing, pulling, digging and dragging we finally get it free and drag it out into deeper water and reanchoring it. Now we are ready for breakfast. We cook clean and pack up because we have to relinquish our spot by noon. I tow the boat trailer with the truck while Bryce is driving the motorhome. I can tow the trailer straight but to back it down the boat ramp no way. So the plan is to drop the motorhome off at the dock area, take Bryce back to the area where we left the boat because I am not sure of my abiltlty to drive the boat by myself, I drive the truck and the trailer back to the boat dock and get in the long line for the ramp, Bryce ties the boat to the dock and comes up and drives the truck down the ramp and then loads the boat and I pull it out of the water. Well the boat got mildly stuck again in the mud so it took longer to get it back to the dock while I am in line for the ramp. My turn comes up and there is no Bryce and no boat. I had to drive back around and get back in line. We got the boat loaded and secured reattached to the motorhome for the drive home and off we went. I realize I need to: 1. Learn how to drive the motor home, 2.learn how to drive the boat, 3. Learn how to back the trailer down the ramp, and 4.learn how to tow the trailer with ease. We had a good time and it was truly relaxing.
